I work at Massage Envy as a front desk associate. The things I’ve seen go on or have been forced to be apart of in order to keep my job are repulsive. The managers do not give one shit about the clients. They just care about numbers, sales and good reviews. Personally if I didn’t need this job I would never set foot near a message envy in my life. It’s a terribly ruin business all around. I just wanted to clarify that us employees are completely aware of the bullshit and terrible service thatvis provided but unfourtantly some of us need these jobs. I’m sorry
My profession is beautiful, my job makes it ugly.
My bosses are not spa professionals and are not in this industry to help anyone- guests, members, or employees. They consistently demean, devalue, and disregard the talent and service of their employees. If your client buys a membership (after a high pressure sales pitch after your service just when you’re relaxed and SO in the mood to listen to contract jargon, right?) they will not be satisfied. They will want to know why you didn’t upgrade them, or sell them products, or get them to rebook.
You are harassed about this to the point that you never feel anything is good enough and begin to doubt yourself as a gifted therapist … Read More
I have 5 dogs, and when we had a few inconsistent days through the winter I was bit by a flea. The front desk manager said they were bed bugs. I am positive they were flea bites, I have had them before. Even the ER doc said bedbugs but wasn’t 100% sure said possibly flea bites too. But released me with the diagnosis as bedbugs. I showed this to them, and after two days they fired me before I could get pest control out here to check, which they cleared me of being free of bed bugs. Massage Envy said I was a liability, which if anyone knew anything about bedbugs they don’t travel skin to skin. And they kid … Read More

I worked at massage envy as front desk and then lead for over a year. then we got new owners, and one by one they started letting my front desk staff go. every day she would tell me “I need you to be my assistant manager…you’re safe…we’re not on a firing spree!”
then one day one of her staff printed out a critical focus about a client complaining about her massage and the front desk. I tried to take care of it, but then I got reprimanded over text message. she said I had to ask permission of the managers before doing so. before I know it, she calls me and fires me.
I am completely saddened. I cared so … Read More
Anyone here know what they pay the sales girls up front for the memberships sold? I believe its $10 for every 1 year and $5 for every 6 months…the Massage Envy I applied for says you don’t get the commission unless you reach 20% sales.. seems unfair if i have 100 prospective clients and sell 19 and I dont get the money for it, while someone else has 20 and sold 5 and gets their extra $$$. Is it company policy to withhold your commission unless you hit a certain percentage? I feel my employer is just being greedy and unfair.
Massage Envy: West Wichita KS location. My wife and I have memberships, but lately we’ve been getting ripped off. Why is it acceptable to short people time on their Massage. I’m not talking about the 10 minutes allotted for changing, I’m talking about getting shorted on the actual “hands-on” time. I’m early for appointments and even mentioned that I wanted the full 80 minutes (for a 90 minute massage), yet today, only received 74 minutes of time with the massage therapist in the room. Look, it may not seem like much, cutting 5 or 6 minutes a time, but I’m paying for a massage… and getting shorted.
I’ve mentioned it to the front desk staff and all they say is … Read More
I currently work for a Massage Envy Spa as a front desk attendant. The job itself is easy, but the company really only cares about money. The owners don’t seem to put much effort into the place and barely check up on the place. The pay is horrible. When I was hired, I received a paper that stated after 30 working days you get a dollar raise.. so that is $9.00 a hour. And after 6 months you get a .50 cent bonus if you meet sales goals. I have worked here for about 9 months and we received our dollar raise after 6 months…. not 30 days. Its hard to make ends meet and pay my bills. I feel … Read More
Worked for the company for 8 months, worked at two different locations actually. I worked front desk and the way we had to treat clients was beyond ridiculous. Had to say a three page script to every “prospect” that came in the door to get them to sign up for the membership. I personally dont find the prices fair considering you pay 59 dollars a month and only 18 of that goes to your therapist when you come in for your massage. I quit this job because they treat their staff and clients like complete crap. I would not recommend going here all they are going to do is treat you badly and beg and plead until you sign up … Read More
New Braunfels, Tx location has bad customer service and bad front desk staff and worse manager. Rude and not helpfull — not stress relief for sure — run far far away.
