Freeze Plus (Use your prepaid massages while having a frozen account)

Freeze Plus is an option to use on your account when you want to use your prepaid (un-used) sessions. All you do is pay a $10 fee (I know, right- another fee!) and you can use those sessions without paying $60 a month. They are supposed to offer this to you if have 5+ sessions and they believe you are at-risk for cancelling your membership.

Keep in mind that this information is probably not even known to many clinics yet as the company is still rolling it out. This shift in policy is stemming from the result of the lawsuit.

MN Class Action going yet?

I see California and Florida both have class actions going on the subscription model. Wondering if anyone in MN is starting one? My wife got duped into the subscription and there appears to be no way out despite our attempts to cancel. They’ve even threatened credit collection if we cancel the card that is associated with the subscription. Seems very like a bizarre business model to me and we plan to review with an attorney. If there is something already going in MN or if others have already reviewed the contract with their attorney / attempted to resolve dispute with local franchise please post.

New class action suit filed against Massage Envy in Florida

MIAMI (Legal Newsline) – A recently filed class action lawsuit filed against a national massage chain alleged the company’s business practices were unfair and deceptive because it won’t honor prepaid massages for customers who cancel their memberships.

Fumiko Robinson filed the lawsuit against Massage Envy Franchising on Nov. 26 in Broward County Circuit Court in Florida. It was removed to U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Jan. 5.

Patrons pay $59 per month to Massage Envy for one massage per month, the lawsuit said. The prepaid massages that can’t be scheduled during the month roll over to the next month.
